What I've been working on

As I'm sure you all can see I'm still trying to get the hang of this whole blogging thing! Really to tell the truth I'm trying to figure out a lot of things right now! You see I'm in the process of building my business and I've tried a few things now.  So far word of mouth and facebook have by far been  the best for me.  But I'm working on etsy, craft shows, & I've even started selling in a local craft shop.  I honestly don't know how you all do it! I feel like I've spent countless hours researching how to make my blog, etsy, etc successful and increase traffic! Maybe it's my impatient nature, but I'm ready to get this show on the road! But I know I should blog more, so for you all I'm looking for some ideas of weekly posts I can link up to to make myself blog more! Please any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

So now on to the what I've been working on part! I have recently been working with a local photographer and my friend Kari from A Mother's Hobby Photography {Check her out on Facebook...she's amazing} Well this kind soul has been helping me with my business , her and her hubs are even building me a website!  So here's some of my recent worked photographed by Kari

Nightmare before Christmas Felt Ornaments

So my family is totally obsessed with the Nightmare before Christmas and this year the budget is a bit tight so I have been handmaking lots of Christmas presents.  I've decided to make at least one for each person on my list.  Well that list is quite long and for me there is something about making each of my items unique to that person and I don't like to mass produce (Oh yes mass produce in my book is anything more that just one) So I've had to get creative. Like I said earlier I have some Nightmare before Christmas obsessed folks over here (No really, I'm not joking) so I came up with these.....
Sorry just one pic for now...because they are Christmas presents and although I know the person I made them for doesn't read my blog...like ever (sighs RUDE) I didn't go picture crazy because I don't want to risk those being seen.

Brand new blog and already MIA

Ok so I know I just started this darn thing and have already been MIA for quite sometime.  I have a really good excuse I promise....Craft Shows!! I have done them for 4 weekends in a row now!  Crazy I know, but it was really a good experience.  I didn't sell tons of items or anything, but it was great to get to know other local vendors and mingle with them hearing about their experiences. So I am now utilizing my time trying to take what I have learned and applying it to building my business. I am really excited for this new year and whats to come.  So now some pictures from the craft shows...any comments would be totally appreciated!! I know I have a lot to learn!!

And this last one because I couldn't resist a picture of Mr. Cuteness!!

Fun Thriftin' Finds

So I have a confession... I am addicted to Goodwill. I just love that place, it never fails everytime I go in there I find something that I just have to have. So this past week while browsing the store I scored a few good items
But my favorite finds were these wreths. Aren't they adorable? And the best part...they came like this!!! I love it perfect for the season and it was only $1.99
So fun with it's felt flower rosette's. Oh I just love it!!

I also found this little beauty and a black one too.  I figure for $1.99 each I couldn't even get the styrafoam for that with a coupon or a sale so I snatched up all 3! I can recover them if I decide I don't like to yarn color or just leave it as is and add flowers.  So let me ask you...have you ever stumbled upon someone's elses work at a thrift store that was exactly your style??

Candy Corn Tutu

I was hoping to have a few pics of the adorable little girl that I made this for but didn't want to post after Halloween so I thought I'd better go ahead without.  So without further ado...
A fun & frilly candy corn tutu!! I love the way this turned out. I used white, orange, yellow and orange sparkle tulle (btw has anybody used this before? I LOVE it) and white ribbon for the tutu, baby tee is from Walmart with a rhinestone iron on decal from Hobby Lobby at 50% off $2. For the headband I decided to make a candy corn out of felt which was super simple.

Let's discuss this fun little chica....molly my dress form. I found her at a local flea market for $12.75!! Has anyone noticed how expensive those things are I was beyond excited.  But let me share the story..she doesn't appear to be a normal type dress form, in fact she's kinda scary looking without her super cute tutu. She came with legs, toes and flip flops?? The man at the store said he thought she used to be a planter? Umm...ok I could have cared what she used to be in her past life all I cared about was that she was coming home with me. (On a side note, I'm considering painting her toenails to make her less scary) She also wears a pair of blue jean shorts and a red tank top which both have been glued to her under the tutu.  Long story short I have been wanting a dress form for quite some time for my tutu's and I could not have been more excited to finally have found one and a child size at that!
And just one more pic :)
